Interested in commissioning a new piece?

As a composer, my purpose in society is to create music for the community. I believe that music can better the world around us and it is so important to our culture. Collaboration is one of my favorite aspects of composition because there is so much excitement about working together to create something new and unique to give back to the world.

What is the process like?

Collaboration is significant to the commissioning process. I believe in building a relationship in which thoughts and ideas are shared while working on a project. Working with performers is also important to the process. My objective is to receive as much feedback, advice or suggestions as possible from musicians in order to modify a piece to get the best work and performance for the project as possible.

When should I contact you?

If you are interested in commissioning a new work, I prefer to be contacted 12-18 months in advance, depending on the size of the project. This allows me time to sketch, write and edit a piece that best meets the criteria of the commission and allows time for collaboration and communication between us.

What is your pricing for new works?

Please contact me regarding the pricing of a new piece. The price will vary depending on the size and type of ensemble that I will be writing for. In addition, the time specified to complete the work will have an impact on the value of the commission.

Who owns the rights?

The rights of the work belong to the composer. However, if you commission a work, you may request specific performance rights that allow you as the performer/ensemble to be the only person/group to perform the work for a given amount of time.
